About

Welcome to Everything But the Music.

UPDATE: The start of 2018 has found us living out a dream on a small ranch in Boerne, Texas. We will be putting on our farmer pants and putting away the RV for now. We will be living our best life straight from the land.

You might be wondering who I am if you do not know me already. My name is Shenna Hayden. I am the mother of a wonderfully wild nearly 3 year old boy, and wife to Rodney Hayden for 10 years. My husband is really the reason I am doing this blog. He is a singer/songwriter and has been for eternity. We are taking the family on his tour this year, starting December 2016 through December 2017. He is in the process of releasing his 11th album, Western Troubadour. Which is the reason/excuse (Ha!) we are using to get rid of nearly everything we own, simplify and take to the road.

I grew up in a ranching and farming family and am pretty handy and reasonably creative so I am pretty excited about putting all my skills to the test on our adventure. I am a formally educated human, I went to Baylor University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. I also nearly completed my Masters in Museum Studies at OU, but life got in the way – in the form of a little adorable baby!!! Wouldn’t change that one for nothing!! Way rather have my son than a masters degree these days anyway. He makes me laugh way more…

In my very recent past life I left my position at the Witte Museum in San Antonio as Director of Public Programs. I was there for over 8 years and completed 3 major new construction and renovation projects. If you have not been to the Witte Museum you MUST go. You just must. It is such a fabulous interdisciplinary museum that covers three initiatives: Nature, Science and Texas History.  Its so rare to have a multidisciplinary museum these days. And the Witte does it well. I helped to create and implement programming for all audiences there. So if you stop by tell them Shenna sent you and I said Hi!!

There will be many entry points for you to this blog, stories, reviews, educational materials, recipes, and much more. I hope you enjoy it. I hope it makes you laugh and smile.
