It’s here! It’s here! The first day of the rest of your life! How many of those do you really get? You graduate High School – the first day of the rest of your life. You graduate college – the first day of the rest of your life. Marriage – the first day of the rest of your life! New job. First baby. You name it, I guess we get quite a few. Is that not exciting? The first day of the rest of your life is full of promise and hope. It’s full of excitement and wonder. It may also be full of butterflies in your stomach.
So what do you do to commemorate the first day of the rest of your life? My husband and my son took me out to dinner last night and we toasted to our new exciting adventure! Today, I took myself out. I got a massage, facial and now I am sitting in one of my favorite sushi restaurants treating myself to TWO sushi rolls! Such a treat, since I always want two because I can never decide! Watch out world, Shenna is on the loose! She is out there inhaling sushi. Like a Piranha!
Anyway, my eating habits aside. How do you hang on to that excitement? How do you ensure that you are living every day like its the first day of the rest of your life. You can’t continue to eat out like this, that’s for sure. You’ll go broke. But seriously, you must find happiness and fun in every little thing you do. A very smart and wonderful woman just told me this week, have fun no matter what you are doing, even if it is filling the truck up with gas.
$150 oil change – WooHoo! Yes! We didn’t want that money anyway, I was hoping to get rid of it soon! Long wait for husband’s CDs to come in – what a great lesson in patience, we should take a little trip while we wait. One thing we are really good at is having fun. Rodney is excellent at turning the most mundane situation into something pretty funny. So we are at an advantage there.
Have fun. Check. Next? Don’t worry so much. You remember that Bible verse, Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air. They do not sow, or reap or gather into barns – and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
Ok, so its really hard to actually trust like that. But this is what you are to do. Trust that what you need will come your way. You just have to listen. You just have to be open.
Some of you might be uncomfortable with that… how about “The universe provides, you just have to listen”. It’s the same thing.
Whatever your belief system, open your life up to what God has in store for you. Have fun. Stop worrying. That is my plan. I will obviously let you know how that goes. Daily. Ok maybe every other day..or so…
Awesome sweet girl. Beautiful insight.🙏❤️
