Apple Pie on the Fourth of July!

Here is our first video! Thought it would be easier to bake something on video and see how that went! Recipe below!

  • 7-8 tart apples, peeled, cores and sliced
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 tsp cinnamon but I use a heaping tablespoon because… well it’s cinnamon
  • 3 tbs flour
  • 3 tbs starch
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbs butter cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg beaten with a splash of water
  • Lemon juice

Heat oven to 400. Prepare apples. Squeeze about a tablespoon of lemon juice on the apples and toss. Mix all dry ingredients together well and add to apples. Make sure apples are all evenly coated. Brush bottom crust lightly with egg wash. Fill Pie. Cover with top crust. Brush with egg wash. Crimp edges of Pie. Pie is done when the apples are tender. If you can easily pierce an Apple with a fork or knife it’s done!
